Illustrations created to wish the people, who follow and support me on several social media channels, a happy Valentines Day. It's my take on a famous traditional Dutch figurine. I had a lot of fun creating these illustrations and focussing on traditional clothing. I'm Dutch myself, born and raised in Amsterdam from Surinames descent (both my parents come from Suriname, former colony of the Netherlands).
The Dutch culture and it's people have changed a lot due to colonial history amongs others. Therefore, I love to mix and apply different cultural references and to show diversity too.

Textile pattern

I created the pattern for the textile with Adobe Firefly (AI). I wanted a pattern in the Dutch traditional "Delfts blauw" (blue white) and with something typical Hollands (Dutch) so I chose to create a pattern with windmills. Sharing a few results below which I didn't use and the final version
that I used for the pants and partially for the skirt.
